Legendary Harpsichordist, Organist, And Early Music Champion Gustav Leonhardt Has Passed Away

It is with deep sadness that we learned that the legendary harpsichordist, organist, and Early Music champion Gustav Leonhardt passed away on Monday the 16th of January, 2012. We at GOArt would like to express our condolences to Professor Leonhardt’s family, friends, students, and colleagues. We remember with deep gratitude the many contributions that he made to the global development of the organ art, not least in Gothenburg: most memorably his stirring inaugural week performance at the North German Organ in Örgryte New Church in August of 2000. He will be sorely missed.
